Senior Software Engineer (Backend)

At Rossum, we are building a product-oriented engineering team that collaborates closely with dedicated Tech Lead and Product Manager to ensure that our work delivers maximum value to users.

We follow an agile Kanban workflow, focusing on iterative development, continuous improvement, and technical excellence. Our engineers take end-to-end ownership of their work, with the freedom to experiment, innovate, and contribute to shaping the product.

Rossum is a highly tech-savvy product, and experience or familiarity with the following stack is a great advantage, but we don’t expect deep expertise in every technology—we believe in learning on the job:

• Most of our services are written in Flask or FastAPI. We’re also utilizing AWS Lambdas, and internal framework where it makes sense
• For communication between components we are using RabbitMQ and REST APIs
• We’re mostly stateless, or we manage state in our platform. Where we need a database, we prefer PostgreSQL. For advanced functionality, we also operate a MongoDB cluster, and we like Redis too.
• Everything we run is deployed in Kubernetes clusters to ensure reliability and scalability. Our infrastructure is AWS-based but cloud-agnostic, giving us flexibility in how we deploy and manage our services.
• We follow a GitOps approach using flux for continuous deployment and Terraform for infrastructure as code, ensuring consistency and efficiency across our environments. Currently, we operate in three AWS regions while maintaining the ability to adapt to different cloud providers as needed.
• We operate quite a few lambda functions, our customers are able to customize the behavior of the product with just a few lines of code (Javascript or Python).
• Prometheus and Grafana are used for monitoring, ELK stack for logs.
• We use GitLab to host our repositories and run CI/CD pipelines.

We are looking for senior backend engineers who are passionate about building great products and enjoy solving technical challenges in a collaborative environment.

Successful candidates typically possesses: 

Solid experience in backend development, with an understanding of how to design and build scalable APIs and services.

Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure).

• Some experience with Kubernetes—you don’t need to be an expert, but an interest in learning container orchestration is useful.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps best practices.
• A product-oriented mindset—you enjoy understanding how your work impacts users and business goals.
• Ability to work independently while being a team player who enjoys collaborating with engineers, product managers, and stakeholders.

• Experience with event-driven architectures (RabbitMQ, Kafka).
• Knowledge of GitOps workflows and infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform).
• Familiarity with monitoring and observability tools such as Prometheus and Grafana.
