We are looking for a Senior Data Platform Engineer to grow our team of data platform experts. Your goal will be to constantly improve and scale our group wide adopted NN Data Analytics Platform or namely NNDAP. The NNDAP team at NN is set-up as a central entity with platform as product thinking, the team empowers other Business Units and Group departments with standardized functional data components that are secured and built as medallion component-based architecture.
NNDAP has two missions’ standardization on Data analytics platform and collaborative software development through innersource, fulfilling those missions keeps our internal customers focused on their data challenges. We help all Data teams in product, finance, HR, facility, etc. in delivering reporting and smart data products to their users, based on the building blocks we provide.
Your impact as a Senior Data Platform Engineer as part of NNDAP will enable NN to be a data driven company by helping the business units to deliver high-quality software components, used at the BU’s to compile data systems which make Nationale Nederland the best data-driven financial services company. You get the opportunity to take part in designing and implementing code that will be re-used by over 110 data engineers in 10 teams and 15 countries.
Technologies you´ll work with:
- Our infrastructure runs on MS Azure cloud, and we use Bicep as IaC. We have built our own System testing and component testing for quality control on our LCM.
We use Azure Data Factory for pipelines and orchestration and Databricks for processing and transforming data and Python for all our components development.
What you are going to do
You will refine, build, test, deploy and automate the core functional data components as part of the NNDAP product and offer that as a standard on a common code base serving all internal customers.
- Understand the needs of your various customers from different business units and translate them to modular solutions which are usable by the vast majority.
- You brainstorm and design solutions to optimize our data platform solution architecture along with other team members to reach to the best technical solution together.
- Share knowledge in our data engineering community, pair program and collaborate on code together with other data engineers within NN and lead/guide or participate the innersource community of NNDAP.
- Enable business teams to run successful data and AI projects and be a tech savvy or mentor other junior engineers.
Your profile
You have 5+ years of relevant software, data and/or platform engineering experience, building platforms which are modular, testable, scalable and easily consumable.
- Have 3+ years hands-on experience on one or more cloud services (Azure) like: ADF, Data-lake, Delta-lake, Databricks, Key Vaults, BigQuery, Datapipeline, etc.
- Experience with Data as Code; version control, small and regular commits, unit tests, CI/CD, packaging, branching, containerization, etc.
- Demonstrated programming and debugging experience with Python/Poetry/PySpark, SQL, Go.
- Preferably experience with open-source/inner-source projects run with a “build once, deploy often” mindset & Experience or interest in Domain Driven Design.
